There’s nothing quite like a good book, with good writing, well-developed characters, and a great story, to get my creative juices flowing. The more I read, the more I want to write. It’s a little reminder how effective the written word and one’s imagination can be. I just finished Water for Elephants by Sarah Gruen (was a little disappointed in the movie though). I’m also the nerd who reads every bit of the book and found the “Author’s Notes” at the end very interesting; fascinating to read about her inspiration behind the book and how she gathered her information.
Here’s a few more on my summer reading list:
-The Help by Kathryn Stockett
-The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold (also wrote Lovely Bones)
-reread a favorite; Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt
-Listening in an Act of Love Storycorps
-The Corrections by Johnathon Franzen
